Use these engaging activities from The Family Bingo Game to help your child master the basic skills they need to succeed.
1. Help develop your child's concept of numbers by counting out a hundred of any simple object. (i.e. sugar cubes, pretzels, toothpicks,
etc.) With your help, and a little glue, build something or create a design out of these objects. (Kindergarten math activity)
2. String a bead or macaroni noodle onto a piece of twine or ribbon each time you read a book with your child. Turn this into a necklace that
your child wears each time you read together. (1st Grade reading activity)
3. Fill a glass jar with jellybeans, or candy. Once a day have each member guess how many items are in the jar. Discuss different methods
you can use to estimate. At the end of one week count the items and see who had he closest guess. (2nd Grade math activity)
4. Cut out several short articles from the newspaper without their headlines. Have you child read these articles and make up his/her own. (3rd

5. Have a "Fractions and Food" dinner at your house. Make different types of food that can be cut into fractions (pizza, brownies,
grilled cheese, etc.) In addition, you can also serve your drinks in fractions of a glass. (4th Grade math activity)
6. Have your child make up a scary story and help him/her tell it in a dramatic way. (5th Grade reading activity)
7. Help your child make a chart that allows him/her to keep track of the following activities over one week: hours spent sleeping, eating,
watching TV, reading, doing homework, attending school, playing with friends and playing video games. Have him/her figure out the percentage of time he/she spends on these activities
and make a pie graph of the results. (6th Grade math activity)
